Eldest Son Blasts Wife for Plotting to Seize Father's Property
Mr Donald Fajuyi, The 76-year-old oldest son of the deceased Lt-Col. Adekunle Fajuyi, who was a former military governor of the old Western Region, has charged his spouse, Lanre, with trying to claim ownership of his father’s assets.
During an interview with our correspondent in Ado-Ekiti, Fajuyi, who is a legal practitioner, mentioned that his spouse felt she had a right to his assets solely due to her status as his wife and because he was the sole offspring of the former military administrator.
He refuted the claim of tearing down the former military governor’s residence on Fajuyi Lane in Ado-Ekiti, reconstructed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stating that the building he demolished belonged to a separate estate. This particular property came into his possession when the family divided his deceased father’s assets in 2014.
He stated: "The Adekunle Fajuyi residence is the family home that has been reconstructed thanks to Asiwaju Tinubu. My deceased father resided here, and this particular property remains intact without being torn down or sold. It should be noted that the structure destroyed was the one purchased by my late father; construction only began but did not progress beyond laying the foundations before the January 1966 coup forced him to urgently travel to Lagos."
Later, he took up the position of Governor of the Old Western Region. When he began his term, he ordered that the construction happening at his residence on Textile Road in Ado-Ekiti should cease. According to my father, being a public official, he wished to avoid any accusations of utilizing public money for personal use on his home.
