Bauchi Senator and NGO Team Up to Train 250 Youth in Shoe-Making

The Representative of the Bauchi South Senatorial Zone, Senator Shehu Buba Umar, has joined forces with an NGO called Reality Youth for Good Leadership and Support Initiative to conduct training sessions for 250 young individuals in shoemaking and repair within Bauchi State.

During an interview with journalists in Bauchi on Saturday, the organization's Executive Director, Mohammed Dahiru, unveiled the initiative.

He stated that all arrangements for the three-day empowerment program for unemployed youths were complete, noting that the start date would be revealed shortly once the participants had been chosen.

He revealed that Senator Buba has approved the NGO to proceed with the training and has committed financial backing for it.

Dahiru mentioned that this initiative aims to alleviate some of the financial pressures caused by the current economic challenges for the chosen participants. Additionally, it seeks to empower them to become self-sufficient and potential job creators.

He emphasized that each trainee would receive a shoemaking kit to facilitate their craft.

The Executive Director explained, "The Senator has consented to collaborate with us for sponsoring the training and mentioned that we should proceed accordingly."

The core objective of the training is to equip participants with skills that will allow them not only to support themselves but also potentially become job creators.

They will receive proper training, and simultaneously, they will be provided with shoe maintenance kits to facilitate their craft.

Dahiru informed the assembly that the recipients will be chosen from various regions within the Bauchi South Senatorial Zone, including Bauchi, Alkaleri, Kirfi, Dass, Toro, Tafawa Balewa, and Bogoro Local Government Areas.

He maintained that the NGO’s objectives were "to empower young Nigerians, foster good governance, stimulate community involvement and awareness initiatives, and assist in developing leadership abilities," noting that these goals align with President Bola Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.

He emphasized that local leaders and various political participants would have a crucial part in choosing who receives support within the district. Therefore, he urged administrations at every level as well as conscientious citizens across Nigeria to embrace the mission of uplifting underprivileged individuals.

Dahiru additionally stressed that these goals could be attained via collaborations with development entities and NGOs throughout the nation.
