Poll Unveils Voter Doubts During Trump's First 100 Days
According to recent polling, 44% of Americans believe that Trump is concentrating on incorrect priorities; however, a majority of Republicans feel he is meeting their expectations.
Approximately half of Americans doubt the US president's focus during his initial 100 days in office, as indicated by a recent survey.
On April 30, President Donald Trump will reach his first 100 days in office, a timeframe clouded by doubt stemming from his administration’s stances on trade and immigration.
This past weekend saw the release of the poll conducted by the Associated Press Norc Center for Public Affairs Research.
Approximately half of the respondents believe that Trump has performed poorly or terribly during his second term, around 20% consider his presidency to be mediocre, whereas roughly 30% see it as excellent or satisfactory, as per the survey findings.
There is no agreement regarding Trump's top goals.
Approximately 44% of American adults stated that Trump prioritized the wrong issues during his initial 100 days in office for his second term, whereas 24% felt he was addressing them correctly. Around one-fifth of respondents believed that the current U.S. president’s agenda included both appropriate and inappropriate focuses equally.
Democrats specifically displeased with Trump's initial 100 days
Not surprisingly, the poll showed that Democrats felt more discontented with the Republican president's second term compared to their sentiments prior to his inauguration on January 20. Approximately 75% of Democrats believe that Trump is focusing on the incorrect issues.
The survey indicated that Republicans generally express satisfaction with Trump. However, it also revealed certain doubts among members of his party regarding the issues President Trump has prioritized, as 26% of Republicans feel that his key focuses are evenly balanced.
The survey indicated that immigration remained one of President Trump's foremost policy priorities. He received greater approval for his handling of this issue than for others such as trade, the economy, and foreign affairs.
Trump's approval ratings low on economy, immigration
Multiple pollsters this week pointed to declining approval ratings for Trump, especially on the economy and immigration .
For instance, a New York Times The Siena College survey conducted on Friday indicated that 50% of registered voters viewed Trump as overstepping the authority granted to him. According to this poll, Trump’s approval rating stood at 42%, whereas 54% of respondents expressed their dissatisfaction with his performance.
In the survey, 66% of respondents characterized the two-term former president’s recent tenure as "chaotic," and 59% viewed it as "frightening." On another note, 42% of those who voted found Trump’s initial 100 days to be "thrilling."
