IGAD and AU Strengthen Pledge for Enhanced Regional Peace and Security Collaboration

On April 9, 2025, Addis Ababa witnessed a meeting between the IGAD Executive Secretary, Workneh Gebeyehu, and the Chairman of the African Union Commission, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf. This event was reported by ENA on the same day.

At the event, both parties reiterated their dedication to enhancing cooperation in tackling the circumstances in Sudan and South Sudan, as well as in fostering peace and stability throughout the area.

They reaffirmed their joint dedication to the principle of subsidiarity and enhanced cooperation between the AU and REC for improved coordination and efficiency.
